Celia is an ARCHITECT and EDUCATOR currently based in BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. She is a co-founder of the architecture design office NOT NOT and ASSISTANT PROFESSOR at RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN

Her past professional experience includes LEWIS.TSURUMAKI.LEWIS in New York, IWAMOTOSCOTT in San Francisco, ROTOR in Brussels, DESIGN EARTH in Cambridge, and BELLASTOCK in Paris. She has previously taught at M.I.T., Tecnologico de Monterrey, and University at Buffalo.

She holds a MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES (SMArchS) from M.I.T. and a BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURE (BArch) from CAL POLY (San Luis Obispo).


Her creative practice is focused on how NARRATIVES AND AESTHETICS SHAPE CULTURAL PERCEPTIONS OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE. Her practice speculates on what it would mean for the architecture profession to CONSIDER THE SOURCING, MAINTENANCE, AND RE-CIRCULATION OF MATERIALS AS CRITICAL DESIGN WORK. Celia designs furniture, animations, exhibitions, video games, graphic novels, and other mediums that bring awareness of the life cycles of the materials that make up the built environment.

Her work has been shown in exhibitions at the Architecture+Design Museum, Helms District in Los Angeles, and M.I.T.
