Shelf Life tells the stories of material-human interactions within a store that sells secondhand construction materials. Having had a previous life before the store, the materials are personified with their own desires too. By reading through each of the material and customer backstories, which are printed on a separate set of playing cards, the reader can start to understand the hidden motives and desires that drive each of the purchases. How does the reuse of these materials honor or contradict their past life and attitude?
